Resources
Review your waste hauler’s or municipality’s rules. The companies that pick up recyclables have different rules for what is allowed in the bin. Be certain which materials your company or city accepts before putting something in your recycling container.
Check for specialty recycling. Items like batteries, plastic foam, plastic bags and electronics aren’t accepted through curbside recycling programs and can often be dropped off at specified locations or events.
Learn the rules. They’re pretty basic. The more accurately you recycle ... the better off the whole process becomes. If you know exactly what and how to recycle something, the greater the chance the material has of being repurposed and not being simply diverted to a landfill. So mastering the rules is key.
